The Festival Steering Group is made up of a variety of partners and community members who help shape the Festival programme with the team.
The Festival Steering Group meet quarterly and are invited on go-sees to experience festival art across the UK.

The Future Shock Exhibition - July 2022
We had a fantastic day in July taking our Festival Steering Group down to London to see the 180 Future Shock Exhibition.
It was a great opportunity for the Festival Steering Group to see what was possible in the light art world and gather their thoughts and responses from the artwork.
The Luminarium - June 2023
For our second Go-See, we took our Festival Steering Group to see the Luminarium at Lakeside Arts, Nottingham.
It was great to experience the Luminarium, and gather the groups thoughts on the artwork.
We brought along members of the Doncaster Markets Team too!
Refik Anadol Exhibition and the Balloon MusEUm
We took our Festival Steering Group to London for the day to see Refik Anadol’s exhibition at the Serpentine and to visit the Balloon Museum. It was great to experience the art, share the joy and be inspired together.
Doncaster Festival of Light Rebrand
In 2023 Right Up Our Street decided to create a branding for the Doncaster Festival of Light programme, to begin to develop brand awareness for the event and build on it.
SAIL created a set of branding guidelines, including Tone of Voice, Colours, Font and Logos. SAIL also created templates for posters and social media.
The Festival Steering Group were integral to decision making during this branding process. The group attended a meeting with Mandy from SAIL and spoke about the festivals values, what we wanted the festival to be and the feeling we wanted the branding to give to audiences.
The group also chose the festival name ‘Doncaster Festival of Light’ - keeping Doncaster at the heart of the new brand.
